Submental Liposuction

Submental fat is the stubborn fat that sits along the chin and jawline which can be extremely difficult to lose. Submental or facial liposuction can help reduce the problem fat to give you the refined facial contours you desire.

Who Should Consider Submental Liposuction?

The best candidates for submental liposuction are those who are healthy and close to their ideal weight. Submental liposuction is not to be used as an alternative to diet and exercise. This facial liposuction procedure targets the chin and neck fat that often causes the appearance of a double chin, providing patients with a healthier, more youthful appearance.

What to Expect from Your Submental Liposuction

During your consultation, Dr. Strazar will listen to your unique expectations and analyze your condition to determine if facial liposuction is the right option for you. A small incision is made near the treatment site below the chin to access the underlying fat. This incision is a few millimeters in length and well hidden. A thin cannula is then inserted through the incision and into the layer of fat to remove the problem fat cells from the body. Careful and precise liposuction can achieve well-balanced and natural-looking outcomes.

After Your Submental Liposuction

There is a short recovery period of about a week following submental liposuction; however, bruising and swelling will take some time to completely dissipate. Most patients will only need to take three to five days off work before they feel well and comfortable enough to return.
The results of this surgery are very natural, yet have noticeable improvements. Many patients receive comments that simply look younger and appear as though they have lost some weight.
