Labial Rejuvenation
What Is A Labiaplasty?
Vaginal rejuvenation (labiaplasty) is used to reverse the changes on the on external vaginal tissues. Some women experience excessive or asymmetric tissue in the labia minora with age, after childbirth, or based on heredity. When folds of skin surrounding the vulva extend beyond the outer vaginal tissues it can interfere with many female functions including intercourse, insertion of tampons, or exercise. Labiaplasty is a plastic surgical procedure that reshapes labia minora and majora.
What Is Involved With A Labiaplasty?
Dr. Strazar carefully works to reshape and reconstruct the labia so that they meet the patient’s aesthetic and functional goals. He uses precise and delicate reshaping techniques so that the labia are not only reduced in size, but the nerves are protected in the process so that sexual function is not compromised. Additionally, the labia majora is often overlooked as a contributor to the youthful appearance. This may often be rejuvenated with fat transfer to revolumize and creating a more youthful appearing vulva.
Recovery After Labiaplasty
Women who undergo labia rejuvenation will need to avoid any activity that may cause swelling and bleeding, such as vigorous exercise, sexual activity, and the use of tampons post operatively. These activities can be slowly resumed over the first 4-6 weeks.
